Born in Moca, Dominican Republic in 2001. After graduating with a Fine Arts BFA degree from Hunter College in 2024. From August 2024- until February 2025 Frankie spent their time in the Dominican Republic researching artisan work traditional to El Cibao, especially in El Higüerito, focusing on the ancestral way of ceramics-making that focused on a feminist approach before the industrialization of such in the island. They will be pursuing an MFA in fine arts at The New School starting in 2025.
They are working in various mediums in order to create pieces that are connected to them by exploring themes of displacement, decolonization, gender expression, memories, heritage and traditions. Through the use of unconventional materials and techniques, they establish connections and critiques of institutions within the realms of politics, religion, imperialism, and patriarchy. Currently exploring Taino roots, Dominican folklore, like the Carnival, along with the myths and legends of the popular folk stories. With this, Frankie seeks to preserve aspects of these ancestral cultural traditions through their art. They have worked at the Noguchi Museum, Socrates Sculpture Park, the Museum of Moving Image, photography lab assistant at the Hunter College Photography Lab, and as a ceramic fabricator/ technician at Powerhouse Arts. They are part of the Cove Artists Collective and The Global Citizen Artist Collective. Some of Frankie's most recent exhibitions include theBLANC Gallery, Leubsdorf Gallery and 205 Hudson Gallery.
